Andromeda is track #10 of the Gorillaz's fourth album, Humanz. It was released March 23rd, 2017. It features the singer D.R.A.M. The same track was later re-mixed and then released with the primary vocals coming from D.R.A.M. It was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2018 Grammy Awards.

Lyrics

When the pulsing looks to die for

Take it in your heart now, lover

When the case is out

And tired and sodden

Take it in your heart

Take it in your heart

[Bridge: D.R.A.M.]

Back to when it was cool

'Cause there's no substitute

Who even knows the truth?

The truth, the truth

[Chorus: 2-D & D.R.A.M.]

Take it in your heart now, lover

Take it in your heart, heart, heart, heart

Take it in your heart

Take it in your heart, heart, heart, heart

Where it all goes down

[Verse 2: 2-D]

Outside, cold and ghosting out with jet lag

I took it to the right man

Took it all back

When the courts were closing

It was Bobby gracing

I know that

A bullet to the right man

He pulled it back

[Verse 3: D.R.A.M.]

Caught in your eyes

Stacks of lights

Come streaming back

Make it for the best times

Growing pains, good times

Good times, good times

Good times, good times

Good times, good times

[Chorus: 2-D] Take it in your heart now, lover

Take it in your heart, heart, heart, heart

Take it in your heart

Take it in your heart

Where it all goes down

[Outro: 2-D & D.R.A.M.]

Andromeda

Andromeda, Andromeda

Take it in your heart now, lover

Andromeda, Andromeda Andromeda, Andromeda

Take it in your heart

Take it in your heart

Where it all goes down

Music Video

The video starts out with a planet in the middle of an asteroid belt just standing there, dead when the beat starts up. As soon as 2-D starts singing the first verse, a meteor hits the planet which causes the planet to illuminate. The planet keeps moving in place, until D.R.A.M sings then it turns purple.

As the beat rises, another meteor hits the planet which causes the planet to illuminate even more. Which gives it more of a purple, and then blue look. The planet and the Asteroid Belt moves faster as the second verse appears.

The final meteor hits the planet and you guessed it, illuminates the planet and giving it the look as it was before the first meteor hit. The Asteroid Belt moves slower after the third verse is sung both by 2-D and D.R.A.M and such ends the video.

Trivia

  • In Greek mythology, Andromeda was an Ethiopian princess rescued by the hero Perseus. A northern constellation is named after her as is the Andromeda galaxy. It translates to “to be mindful of a man” from the Greek element ανηρ (aner) “man” (genitive ανδρος) combined with μεδομαι (medomai) “to be mindful of”. Space themes are found throughout Humanz. However, Damon Albarn explained it is named after an old soul club in 1980s Colchester. [1]
