Don't Get Lost In Heaven

Don't Get Lost In Heaven is the fourteenth track on Gorillaz' 2005 album, Demon Days.

The song features the London Community Gospel Choir doing the vocals on the chorus.

Lyrics[]

Got off a plane to the countryside
I drove to the mountain and, holding the ground
There was crack on a corner and someone dead
And fire coming out of the monkey's head

Don't get lost in heaven, they got locks on the gate
Don't go over the edge, you'll make a big mistake

Put me in a cab to suburbia
I just took a line but I wasn't with you
There was more of it there, when I got back home
But you'd left me, you don't know my soul

You're a whole bad mistake, yeah, you're a whole one

Don't get lost in heaven, they got locks on the gate
Don't go over the edge, you'll make a big mistake

You'll make a big mistake. Aaaaaaahhhh
You'll make a big mistake. Aaaaaaahhhh
You'll make a big mistake. Aaaaaaahhhh
You'll make a big mistake. Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh...

Gorillaz - Don't Get Lost In Heaven - Demon Days

Trivia[]

Dont Get Lost In Heaven ORIGINAL

The unedited version of the photo used for the cover art.

  • Prior to the version of the song found in Demon Days, the song originally had a comedic stereotypical "Hillybilly" feel to it that was accompanied by banjo instrumentals. This version of the song was released in the D-Sides album of songs that did not have large scale releases like the hit singles in the Demon Days album.
  • The cover art used for the song is part of a photoset from the Liberian Civil War which lasted from 1999 to 2003 (two years before the release of Demon Days).
  • This song was originally listed as Don't Get Lost In Heaven - Original Demo Version but the demo got replaced by this track.
  • With the exception of "Intro", this is the only song from Demon Days without an official instrumental, likely due to it being the last track finished for the album as a result of changes made from the demo version.
