Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach is the second track on Gorillaz' 2010 album "Plastic Beach".
The song features Snoop Dogg and The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.
Band member Murdoc Niccals stated the following about "Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach" in a track-by-track commentary:
"Snoop’s the granddaddy, isn’t he? 'Doggystyle' was for many people the record that got them into rap and G-funk. The track also features The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, a Chicago nine-piece brass group featuring eight sons of Phil Cohran (who played trumpet with The Sun Ra Arkestra).
This is a proper soundtrack: brass-laden, pimped out, plastic funk, mixing the organic with the plastic to form something new and shiny. And who better to open up this world than Snoop?"
Lyrics[1][]
Snoop Dogg: Gorillaz and the boss dog, Planet of the Apes
The revolution will be televised
And the pollution from the ocean now with devotion
Push peace and keep it in motion
Kids gather round yeah I need your focus
I know it seems like the world is so hopeless
It's like wonderland
Now fascinate me, picture and animate me
Cuz I'm rollin, heat holdin'
Click clacking, crackalackin
Fo' packin, mo' stackin
actin the fool when I teach
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
Mirror mirror on the wall
Boss Dogg give it to us
Get involved, turn it up
Speed it up, slow it up
Underground but is he under us, under cut
Chipped up, shipped out
Swimming with the sharks with my gills up
Turn the wheels up real tough
Drinking lemonade in the shade
Getting blazed with a gang of pilgrims
Dogg [Unknown; possibly 2D or Snoop]: Yeah, [just like that]
Belly floppin' lockin'
while I'm rockin' in the bubble bath
And I'm [just like math]
Four zones add it up and get you more cash
[So quick, so fast]
All the kids say they love it when I make them laugh
(laughing)
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
Welcome to the world of the Plastic Beach
