HypnoticBrassEnsemble

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (also known as The Bad Boys of Jazz) is an eight-piece, Chicago-based brass ensemble consisting of eight sons of the jazz trumpeter Phil Cohran. Their musical style ranges from hip-hop to jazz to funk and rock, including calypso and gypsy music.

Role in Gorillaz[]

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble collaborated with Gorillaz on the tracks Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach and Sweepstakes from Gorillaz' third studio album Plastic Beach, alongside one of the versions of the un-released song Electric Shock and an unreleased original version of Broken. They joined Gorillaz on the Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour, Humanz Tour and The Now Now Tour where they provided additional brass on the live version of Broken.

Musical Career[]

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble call their eclectic blend of sound "now music" or "hypnotic". Reared in the teachings of music since they were children, they grew up on the stage playing as the Phil Cohran Youth Ensemble.
