Phoner to Arizona is the 1st track of the Gorillaz' 2011 album The Fall. This song was recorded on the 3rd of October in Quebec, Canada.
Band member 2D spoke about his inspiration of this track on Murdoc's radio show, Pirate Radio:
"This track, okay, is called, Phoner To Arizona, and it’s got a, uh, well- it’s like a train journey or a soundtrack to a train journey. It’s a horror train actually (small laugh) uh, going from stop- one station into, a sun-scorched horrible descent into darkness, night time, trouble and mayhem. As the tour progressed and got messier and messier, uh, this relentless train is still hurdlin’ through the night, er, like, you know, smashing its ghostly way from town to town and city to city, an unstoppable juggernaut of hedonism, chaos and mayhem."
