Souk Eye is a song by Gorillaz and the eleventh and final track from their sixth studio album, The Now Now.
Background[]
The first demo for this track, named West Hollywood, was recorded during the Humanz Tour at the Modrian Hotel in California, and was eventually split up into Souk Eye and Hollywood. Scenes from the recording of the song are present on the documentary Gorillaz: Reject False Icons.
Souk Eye premiered live at the Rock Im Park festival in Nürnberg on the 1st of June 2018 along with the songs Tranz, Magic City, and Sorcererz. A visualiser featuring appearances from 2-D, Russel, Noodle and Ace was uploaded to YouTube on 30 June 2018 following the album's release.
Live Visuals[]
The live visuals for Souk Eye for The Now Now Tour were produced by creative agency, design and production company Block9. Most of the visuals consist of a shaking, blinking eye with dark colours and light effects in the background. Throughout the video, scenes of car chases, a shot from the Stylo music video, 2-D's point-of-view from Pandora Radio's 'Sounds Like Gorillaz' ad and an image of Murdoc in prison also appear during different occasions.
